Cold storage Saudi Arabia — Pakistan-engineered, GCC-delivered. FireSafe PIR panels, refrigeration, and commissioning.

Izhar Foster has been engineering Pakistan's cold chain since 1959. For the Saudi Arabian and wider GCC market, our offer is direct: we manufacture FireSafe PIR sandwich panels to BS EN 14509 with λ 0.022 W/m·K at our 277,460 sqft Lahore plant, supply refrigeration equipment from our long-standing partners (Bitzer, Heatcraft, LU-VE, Zanotti), and our engineers fly in to lead design, commissioning, and handover — in partnership with established Saudi contractors. 2,100+ cold-chain installations behind us. The same engineering, exported to Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam.

What we offer the KSA market

Three concrete things Izhar Foster supplies to Saudi Arabia — and one thing we're transparent we don't.

FireSafe PIR sandwich panels

Bulk-shipped from our Lahore plant in 40-foot high-cube containers from Karachi Port to Jeddah (7–10 days) or Dammam via Jebel Ali (10–14 days). Standard 1,200 mm widths, lengths to 14 m, thicknesses 50–200 mm. BS EN 14509 with λ 0.022 W/m·K aged thermal conductivity. Closed-cell PIR foam — thermoset (forms char on fire exposure rather than melting), pentane-blown (no HFC blowing agent), and dimensionally stable in coastal humidity. Full technical documentation, test certificates, and Method Statements accompany every shipment for SBC verification by your local consulting engineer.

Refrigeration equipment, sized for 50°C ambient

Bitzer reciprocating and screw compressors (Germany), Heatcraft and LU-VE evaporators and condensers, Zanotti truck refrigeration units (Italy) — the same kit we've specified across 2,100+ Pakistan projects, sized to KSA design conditions. Equipment selection applies ASHRAE Refrigeration Handbook Ch. 35 condenser derate (2.0%/K for medium temperature, 2.7%/K for low temperature) at the actual project ambient (typically 50°C summer DB for Riyadh and Dammam). For facilities above 500 kW refrigeration load, we recommend ammonia-glycol secondary-loop systems — ammonia outperforms HFCs on efficiency at elevated ambient and avoids the regulatory burden of large HFC charges.

Fly-in engineering — design, commissioning, handover

Izhar engineers travel for KSA projects. Standard package: pre-shipment design review (heat-load calculation calibrated to actual site conditions, refrigerant selection, panel thickness verification); mobilisation site visit to train the local install crew on panel handling and joint sealing; refrigeration commissioning (pump-down, charging, control commissioning, performance testing); and handover documentation including IQ/OQ/PQ for pharmaceutical cold rooms. Typically 30–45 engineer-days for a mid-size project, costed transparently in the commercial proposal.

What we're transparent we don't have:

A permanent Saudi office or in-Kingdom installation crew. Local installation on every KSA project is performed by our partner contractors under Izhar engineering supervision. If you are an established Saudi cold-chain contractor, developer, or consulting engineer, we are actively looking to formalise distributor and project-partner relationships — get in touch.

Sectors we target in Saudi Arabia

Five Saudi cold-chain segments where Izhar Foster engineering directly applies.

Our 2,100+ Pakistan installations map onto five Saudi market segments. We are not chasing residential refrigeration or comfort HVAC — this is industrial cold-chain engineering only.

Pharmaceutical cold storage

+2/+8°C validated cold rooms for vaccines and biologics. WHO TRS 961 Annex 9, GDP, and SFDA documentation. N+1 Bitzer redundancy, full IQ/OQ/PQ, validated temperature mapping. Same scope as our Getz Pharma, Sami, and Searle work in Pakistan.

Food import & 3PL warehouses

Jeddah and Dammam port-receiving cold rooms. Multi-temperature distribution warehouses. Coastal humidity engineering for the Red Sea coast. Reference: Connect Logistics, Karachi — multi-temperature 3PL with ammonia-glycol plant.

Dates & fresh produce

CA storage for Medjool, Khalas, and other Saudi date varieties — +0.5°C with 2–5% O&sub2; / 3–5% CO&sub2;. Same engineering as HAC Agri's 3,000-t CA store (Pakistan's first commercial CA, 20 rooms). Pre-export packing cold rooms for fruit and vegetable exporters.

Dairy & beverage

Cold storage for the substantial Saudi domestic dairy industry (Almarai, Nadec scale operations) and beverage bottlers. Direct analogues in our portfolio: TCCEC Coca-Cola Lahore (drive-in racking + NH&sub3; plant), Pepsi Naubahar Gujranwala (cold store + QC lab), Engro Milk Collection Centres (+4°C hold at 48°C Sindh ambient).

Industrial & remote-site

Eastern Province industrial cold storage, offshore catering supply, remote-site temperature-controlled storage for oil and gas operations. PIR-clad construction with stainless food-grade options. Designed for the 50°C+ summer ambient that defines the Eastern Province.

Refrigerated transport

PIR-insulated truck bodies with Zanotti or Thermo King refrigeration units. Closed-cell PIR resists Jeddah's coastal humidity and Riyadh's thermal cycling far better than EPS or PUR. Built-to-order for KSA fleet operators with full technical documentation.

The honest case for sourcing from Pakistan

Three concrete reasons — and the trade-offs you should know.

Cost: 20–35% below European equivalent, at delivered-to-KSA pricing

Pakistan-manufactured PIR panels meeting BS EN 14509 at λ 0.022 W/m·K are typically 20–35% cheaper than equivalent European product when delivered to Saudi Arabia. This cost advantage is driven by lower manufacturing overhead and lower labour cost in Lahore — not by cutting on raw materials. Our PIR formulation uses the same Dow Chemical and BASF chemical systems used by European manufacturers. The same is true for our refrigeration scope: Bitzer, Heatcraft, LU-VE, and Zanotti are the same brands a European cold-chain contractor would specify. The cost saving comes from Pakistani engineering and project management, not from substitution of cheaper components.

Technical maturity: 65 years and 2,100+ installations behind us

Izhar Foster is not a new entrant. Our manufacturing plant has been operating in Lahore since 1959. We have delivered some of the largest cold-chain projects in South Asia — HAC Agri's 3,000-tonne CA store (Pakistan's first commercial CA, 20 rooms with Fruit Control Italiana), Iceland Cold Chain's −28°C two-stage ammonia export freezer for halal poultry to China, the multi-temperature distribution hubs serving Coca-Cola TCCEC, Pepsi Naubahar, Engro, and Metro Cash & Carry. Our portfolio is named, public, and documented — you can read every case study on this site, including refrigerant selection rationale, panel U-value calculations, and commissioning outcomes.

English-language engineering & documentation

Our entire technical team works in English. Drawings, ASHRAE Ch. 24 heat-load calculations, method statements, IQ/OQ/PQ documentation for pharma rooms, commissioning reports, and as-built records are all produced in English. This removes a friction point that some Saudi clients report with Turkish, Chinese, or Eastern European suppliers. Our engineering documentation is also produced to the standards a Saudi consulting engineer (or your own technical due-diligence team) would expect to verify SBC compliance, refrigerant management, and structural integration.

The trade-offs we are transparent about

Shipping time. Karachi to Jeddah is 7–10 days by sea; to Dammam is 10–14 days via Jebel Ali transhipment. European panels can move on slightly shorter sea routes from Mediterranean ports, though for many projects this is not the critical path. We plan multi-shipment delivery schedules for projects above ~2,000 m² of panel so site storage time is minimised.

No permanent KSA office. Local installation on every Saudi project is performed by our partner contractors under Izhar engineering supervision (fly-in model). This works well when the local contractor is established and the project programme is well-defined. We are actively looking to formalise distributor relationships across Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam to remove this friction for future projects.

Customs and freight handling. Door-to-door delivery including KSA customs clearance can be arranged through our freight partners, but many clients prefer to handle customs in-Kingdom. We are flexible on Incoterms (FOB Karachi, CFR Jeddah/Dammam, or DDP delivered to site) and quote whichever the client prefers.

Before you ask

Cold storage Saudi Arabia — questions buyers ask first.

01Does Izhar Foster operate in Saudi Arabia?
We are headquartered in Lahore, Pakistan, with no permanent Saudi office. Our offer for KSA is export-led: panels and refrigeration equipment from our Lahore plant, shipped to Jeddah or Dammam, with Izhar engineers flying in for design review, installation supervision, commissioning, and handover — in partnership with local contractors. We are actively building distributor and project-partner relationships across Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam.
02Do your PIR panels meet Saudi fire and thermal codes?
FireSafe PIR panels are manufactured to BS EN 14509 with λ 0.022 W/m·K aged thermal conductivity. PIR is thermoset (chars on fire exposure rather than melting) and meets Euroclass B-s2,d0 in our standard 100 mm construction — satisfying SBC 801 fire requirements for most industrial cold storage applications. Full test certificates and technical documentation ship with every consignment for verification by your consulting engineer.
03How does shipping from Pakistan to KSA work?
Bulk-shipped from Karachi Port in 40-foot high-cube containers. Karachi → Jeddah is 7–10 days; Karachi → Dammam (via Jebel Ali) is 10–14 days. Typical container holds 350–450 m² of 100 mm panel. We quote FOB Karachi, CFR Jeddah/Dammam, or DDP delivered-to-site — whichever Incoterms work for the client. Multi-shipment schedules sync with site installation programme on larger projects.
04What refrigeration equipment do you supply for KSA projects?
Bitzer compressors (Germany), Heatcraft and LU-VE evaporators and condensers, Zanotti truck refrigeration (Italy) — the same brands we specify across our Pakistan portfolio. Equipment is sized to KSA design conditions (typically 50°C summer DB for Riyadh and Dammam, 42°C with coastal humidity for Jeddah) with ASHRAE Ch. 35 condenser derate applied. For facilities above 500 kW refrigeration load, we recommend ammonia-glycol secondary-loop systems.
05What sectors do you target?
Pharmaceutical cold storage (WHO TRS 961, SFDA), food import & 3PL warehousing, dates and fresh produce (CA storage), dairy and beverage (Almarai/Nadec-scale projects), and industrial / remote-site cold storage for the Eastern Province oil and gas sector. We do not pursue residential refrigeration or comfort HVAC — this is industrial cold-chain engineering only.
06What is the typical engineering scope when your team flies in?
Pre-shipment design review (ASHRAE Ch. 24 heat-load, refrigerant selection, panel verification); mobilisation site visit to train the local install crew on panel handling and joint sealing; refrigeration commissioning (pump-down, charging, controls, performance testing); and handover documentation including IQ/OQ/PQ for pharma rooms. Typically 30–45 engineer-days for a mid-size project, costed transparently in the commercial proposal.
07Why source from Pakistan instead of from Europe or Turkey?
Cost: 20–35% cheaper at delivered-to-KSA pricing, driven by lower manufacturing overhead, not by cutting on raw material quality (same Dow / BASF chemical systems, same Bitzer / Heatcraft / LU-VE refrigeration brands as European competitors). Technical maturity: 65 years and 2,100+ installations including some of the largest cold-chain projects in South Asia. English-language engineering and documentation. The trade-offs are sea-freight time and the absence of a permanent KSA office, both of which we address with planned shipment schedules and a structured fly-in engineering model.
08Can you build CA stores for Saudi date producers?
Yes. CA storage is a core capability — HAC Agri's 3,000-tonne CA store at Phool Nagar (Pakistan's first commercial CA, 20 rooms, Fruit Control Italiana gas management) is one of our flagship installations. Typical date storage regime is +0.5°C with 2–5% O&sub2; and 3–5% CO&sub2;. Gas-tight PIR construction, dedicated gas management equipment, validated atmosphere pull-down.
