Walk-in Cold Rooms & Freezer Rooms in Pakistan — from a 6×6 ft box to a 20-ft room

Compact, ready-to-run chillers and freezer rooms for restaurants, bakeries, ice-cream parlours, meat and dry-fruit shops, pharmacies and labs. We size it, build it from FireSafe PIR panels, and hand you a working room — door, refrigeration and controls included.

Walk-in cold room and freezer room Pakistan — compact PIR panel build

Not every cold-storage job is a 1,000-tonne warehouse. Most of the rooms Pakistan actually asks us for are small: a 6×6 ft freezer behind an ice-cream counter, a 12×15 ft kitchen chiller for a restaurant, a meat-shop freezer at −25 °C, a dry-fruit room in Multan, a pharmacy chiller holding vaccines at +2 to +8 °C, or a lab freezer for samples. This page is for those rooms — walk-in cold rooms and walk-in freezer rooms, supplied and installed complete.

A walk-in cold room is a self-contained insulated box built from PIR sandwich panels, with its own door and a matched refrigeration unit. "Walk-in" simply means you walk inside it, as opposed to a reach-in cabinet. The same engineering principles that govern a large cold store apply here — they just arrive in a smaller, faster, lower-cost package.

Chiller or freezer? Pick by what you store

The single biggest decision is the design temperature, because it drives panel thickness, the refrigeration unit, the door and the price. Match your product to the right band:

Room typeTemperatureTypical contents
Walk-in chiller0 → +4 °CFresh meat, dairy, vegetables, flowers, restaurant prep, pharmacy & vaccines (+2/+8 °C)
Walk-in freezer (food)−18 → −20 °CFrozen meat & poultry, seekh kabab, parathas, frozen vegetables, bakery dough
Walk-in freezer (ice cream)−22 → −25 °CIce cream, kulfi, frozen desserts, long-hold seafood

If you store more than one of these, you don't need separate units everywhere — a single room can be partitioned, or two small rooms can share a multiplexed condensing rack. Tell us the products and we work out the cleanest layout.

Who we build these for

  • Restaurants & QSR chains — kitchen chillers and freezer rooms, thawing rooms, walk-in cold rooms (WICF). We build these for branded chains and independent kitchens alike.
  • Ice-cream parlours & dessert brands — −22 to −25 °C hold rooms, sized so the room stays at temperature through the summer peak when the door cycles all day.
  • Bakeries — dough retarders, finished-goods chillers, and frozen storage for par-baked product.
  • Meat & dry-fruit shops — compact freezer rooms at −25 °C and chillers for display backup. (For full processing plants see meat & poultry cold storage.)
  • Pharmacies, clinics & laboratories — validated +2 to +8 °C chillers and −20 °C freezers. For GMP/DRAP-grade rooms see pharmaceutical cold storage.
  • Hotels, marriage halls & caterers — back-of-house cold and freezer rooms sized for event peaks.

What "supplied and installed complete" actually includes

A walk-in room is only useful when the panels, the door and the refrigeration all work together. We deliver the whole thing as one scope so you have one accountable supplier:

  • FireSafe PIR panels — 75–100 mm for chillers, 100–150 mm for freezers. Aged thermal conductivity λ = 0.022 W/m·K to BS EN 14509, with a fire-rated PIR core.
  • Cold-room door — insulated hinged or sliding door sized to your access. Freezer doors get a heated frame to stop the gasket icing shut. See insulated doors.
  • Refrigeration — condensing unit and evaporator sized to your heat load, derated for Pakistani ambient, with the right refrigerant for the temperature.
  • Controls — temperature controller, defrost cycle, door switch, and an alarm threshold so you know before product is at risk.
  • Floor — insulated floor panel for freezers, or a sealed transition to your existing slab for chillers.
  • Commissioning — we pull the room down to temperature, verify the load holds, and hand over.

How we size your room

Sizing a small room wrong is expensive twice — an undersized unit never holds temperature in summer, and an oversized one short-cycles and wastes energy. We size on three inputs:

  • Internal dimensions — length × width × height in feet or metres. A 6×6×8 ft room, a 12×15 ft kitchen room, a 12×17 ft ice-cream room.
  • Design temperature — from the table above, set by your product.
  • Usage — how often the door opens, whether you load warm product (which adds a big pull-down load), and your city's summer ambient.

Frequently asked questions

What is a walk-in cold room?

A walk-in cold room is a small, self-contained refrigerated box — typically 6×6 ft up to 20×8 ft — built from insulated PIR sandwich panels with its own door and condensing unit. It lets a restaurant, shop or clinic store chilled or frozen product on site without a large industrial warehouse. A walk-in chiller runs around 0 to +4 °C; a walk-in freezer room runs −18 to −25 °C.

How much does a walk-in cold room cost in Pakistan?

A small walk-in chiller (around 6×6×8 ft, +2 to +4 °C) typically lands between PKR 0.8 and 1.4 million complete with panels, door and condensing unit. A walk-in freezer room of the same size at −25 °C runs roughly PKR 1.4 to 2.4 million because it needs a low-temperature unit, thicker panels and a heated door frame. Larger 12×17 ft ice-cream or kitchen rooms scale up from there. Use our cost calculator for a figure tuned to your size, city and temperature.

What temperature should my walk-in freezer room run at?

Ice cream and frozen dessert hold at −22 to −25 °C. General frozen food (meat, seekh kabab, frozen poultry, parathas) holds at −18 to −20 °C. Fresh meat, dairy, flowers and pharmaceuticals sit in a chiller at 0 to +4 °C. Tell us the product and we set the design temperature — it drives panel thickness and unit selection.

How long does it take to install a walk-in cold room?

A standard small walk-in room is panelised off-site and installed in 1 to 3 days once panels and the condensing unit are on site. Lead time from order to commissioning is typically 2 to 4 weeks for stock sizes, longer for custom dimensions or imported low-temperature units.

Can you build a cold room inside my existing shop or on the roof?

Yes. Walk-in rooms are built from modular panels, so we can assemble them inside an existing kitchen, shop or warehouse, on an upper floor, or on a rooftop — provided the floor can carry the load and the condensing unit has a ventilated outdoor position. We routinely build rooms on first floors and rooftops for restaurants and bakeries in dense city locations.

What panel thickness do I need for a freezer room?

Chillers (0 to +4 °C) use 75–100 mm FireSafe PIR panels. Freezer rooms (−18 to −25 °C) use 100–150 mm. We standardise on PIR with an aged thermal conductivity (λ) of 0.022 W/m·K to BS EN 14509, which keeps running cost and condensation under control in Pakistan's ambient.

Do you supply the door and refrigeration unit as well?

Yes — we deliver the room complete: insulated hinged or sliding cold-room door (heated frame for freezers), the condensing unit and evaporator sized to your load, controls, and commissioning. You get one accountable supplier for the panels, the door and the refrigeration, not three.
